Sipping ink and drinking tea

"Enjoy the fragrant and beautiful tea, let the dust settle."

"Sipping ink and watching tea" (啜墨看茶), a phrase by Su Shi of the Northern Song Dynasty, describes the elegant attitude of literati at that time. Through burning incense, drinking tea, and reading, they cultivated their temperament. "Watching tea" implies offering and drinking tea. The warm and direct "come drink tea" culture of Taiwanese people is, as Zheng Banqiao said, "When guests arrive, the heart is always warm; when people leave, the tea does not cool," cherishing the serendipity of every encounter. Both the hospitable customs of Taiwanese people and the subtle and reserved tea-drinking culture of literati convey the inseparable emotions between people through a cup of tea offered in reverence to heaven and earth.
